Google TV bounces back as LG, Sony, Samsung sign up to offer big-screen ...

Sony already offers the service on a small number of sets in America, and Samsung is to build televisions with the web-TV service, which offers access to TV from HBO, CNBC and Netflix, as well as web, social networking, apps and games.

With backing from big electronics companies, Google’s service could hit the mainstream this year – long before the rumoured Apple iTV service goes on sale.

Google TV will offers web access via its Chrome browser, and apps and games similar to the ones on Google’s Android devices – but all redesigned to be easily usable via a remote control from the sofa.

The sets connect to a home internet network, and also offer access to YouTube’s steadily increasing number of TV channels.

The service has yet to launch in Europe. In America, it has so far met mixed reviews, and widespread indifference.

Logitech, makers of one of the first Google TV devices – a set-top box – lost a reported $100 million on their gadgets.

Enjoyed the show, but as usual a 'Gadget Show' leaning towards all things Apple! Most people do not use there products, I know that many do. but actually a more impartial approach would be appreciated by most of your visitors, IMO (then again, maybe it's just me?) Pending Dionne return, but we have enjoyed working here and Polly on TV for the last few weeks . Keep up the good work:)

Over 200,000 Android phones sold every day.E 'come to the point that you will have to give airtime 50% for Android phones as they will be that, compared to the popular iPhone. Android the iPhone is more popular in the United States. The show gadget uses Apple Mac, I work in IT and I've never met anyone who has one. Use the S Galaxy, HTC Desire as well as the iPhone when doing reviews.

As for Android applications - I agree that some should be included, you can not just compare how many phones are sold Android vs. iPhone, you have to look at the number of applications available on each platform, and the number of applications for each one sold .There are lots of Android phones sold (not surprising since they are produced by a number of companies rather than simply making the Apple iPhone), but the use of application is much higher on the iPhone (I've seen several reports confirming this ) also, I think the Gadget Show spends some time on Apple products as they lead the way in terms of consumer tech. What smartphone look like before the iPhone, and what they look like now?
